As part of the World Around Us topic ‘All Aound Us’, the class ventured outside the school grounds to explore the local area. The children were keen to spot natural and built features, noticing names of roads and housing developments. We chatted about how the local area has changed over time and how important it is to have a church, a school, a shop, a pharmacy, a community centre and hotel to meet our needs.
It was also an opportunity to practise some road safety practices too. Each week in class we learn facts about road safety through our road safety calendar which this year celebrates its 50th year! We put into action the GREEN CROSS CODE as taught to us by Skooter.
