Online Digital Safeguarding

6th Feb 2026

As we are all aware, technology is moving at such an astronomical pace, it is difficult to keep up. While there are many advantages to technology, especially in education, there are some potential pitfalls.

Children and teenagers now largely have access to technology in every walk of life and it can be difficult ensuring their safety when they are online. These dangers are affecting children across society and within our own parish.

With these dangers becoming more prevalent, our Parish School Cluster of St. Joseph’s, Meigh, St. Michael’s, Killean, and St. Moninna’s, Cloughoge have come together to invite technology and online safety specialist, Wayne Denner, to host an information evening at Killeavy GAA premises on Thursday 19th February at 7pm sharp. The information evening will last around one hour with a Q&A with Wayne at the end.  Wayne will also deliver an age appropriate presentation to all P6 & 7 pupils from our three schools at St. Moninna’s P.S at 10am that same morning.

Wayne regularly appears on radio and television as the go to person for advice on how to keep safe online (for both parents and children), what to look out for and valuable instruction on what to do if something untoward has occurred.

This event is free and open to all parents/adults (21+) in the parish of Upper Killeavy who have responsibility for primary or secondary school age children (Nursery to Yr14).

All three schools would really value your support in attending this important event and look forward to seeing you all there.
