Our Primary 7 pupils were in the company of ‘literary genius’ today when they participated in an online Q&A with highly esteemed author Marita Conlon McKenna. Her most notable novels from an Irish historical educational purpose was the trilogy series, ‘Under the Hawthorn Tree;The Wildflower Girl; and Field’s of Home.’ These wonderful books were set during famine times in Ireland and told the story of an Irish family who experienced the harsh and tragic pain of hunger, loss, oppression and emigration and much more in their fight for survival. Our pupils study the first book of this trilogy and were delighted to meet and talk to the Marita. What an absolute privilege.
