πŸ§¬πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬Active Science WeekπŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬

26th May 2023

To celebrate the importance of STEM in our everyday lives each class participated in a science and technology workshop led by the Science Starz team from Belfast.

Primary 1 pupils made their own perfumes whilst the children in Primary 2 had fun in the Fizzy Fun Lab combining acids and alkalis to see different chemical reactions.

Primary 3 children became engineers and were challenged to design, make and test boats.

Rockets was the theme for the Primary 4 workshop whereby the children created and tested their own rockets.

Generating electricity from a lemon was required from Primary 5 pupils.  Was this even possible?  Oh yes indeed it was!  Lemon batteries were created here.

A STEM boat challenge enthused the Primary 6 class whilst Primary 7 children became detectives as they investigated the science behind fingerprinting and its use in solving crime.

These workshops helped develop teamwork, critical thinking and investigative skills in the STEM subjects and fun was had by all.  Bronagh and Mary from Science Starz spent two lovely days with us here at St Joseph’s. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸŒŸ

Primary 3-6 classes will engage in more fun STEM learning when they visit W5 in the coming weeks.
